to participate in the METANANO School on Advanced Microwave Technologies and Methods, which will be held
on 15-19 September 2025 at Harbin Engineering University in Qingdao, China.
This year the METANANO School will focus on advanced microwave technologies, offering a comprehensive program that combines theory, simulation, and hands-on experience. Participants will attend expert-led lectures, take part in practical sessions on numerical modeling of microwave materials and devices, and gain laboratory experience in microwave measurements and material characterization.

  • Vyacheslav Ivliev
    Design and Modeling of Microstrip Antennas for GHz-Range Applications
    This module covers the fundamental principles of microstrip antenna design, including impedance matching, bandwidth control, and radiation pattern shaping. Particular emphasis will be placed on practical implementation: participants will carry out full-cycle development, including electromagnetic simulations, hands-on fabrication using low-cost materials, and experimental testing of antenna performance.
  • Nikolay Solodovchenko
    Electromagnetic Scattering, Mie Resonances, and Quasi-Normal Mode (QNM) Expansion
    The lectures will introduce participants to the theory of electromagnetic scattering by subwavelength resonators, Mie theory, and the quasi-normal mode framework for open systems. Practical sessions will include numerical simulations of scattering problems, QNM-based modal analysis, and RCS calculations using commercial and custom simulation tools.

  • Sergei Kuznetsov
    Quasi-Optical Measurement Techniques and Characterization of Metasurfaces in the Millimeter-Wave Range
    This topic will cover the principles of quasi-optical systems and their application to the characterization of microwave and millimeter-wave devices. A key component of the course is laboratory-based practical training, where participants will perform real-time measurements of dielectric metasurfaces, analyze transmission and reflection data, and compare experimental results with theoretical predictions.
  • Kristina Popova
    Design of RF Coils for Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
    The course explores the theory and practical aspects of RF coil design, including resonator configurations, field uniformity, and signal sensitivity for MRI applications. Practical sessions will involve the design and simulation of RF coils using specialized software, allowing participants to model electromagnetic fields and optimize coil performance under realistic conditions.
